Yes.. you read that right.. another 5 months after taping this event back in July... Thanks to everyone for being so patient. Got sick with headaches again this year and am still recovering from an inner ear infection.. yum.. Anyway.. For a preview of this event.. And of course we've seen numbers all over the map today.. but TBS is updating graphic to let us know where we should be.. 50 down.. 3 competitors moved on to the 2nd stage!

The Malaysian Cat's turn!

As was extensively covered in SASUKE 27 NAVI, TBS went to Malaysia to help run their very first Trials event called appropriately "Sasuke Malaysia"

Of course according to news.. more than 50% of the population is fat.. so this was an effort to promote healthiness and sport. They even posted the pic of Nagano meeting the Prime Minister

He couldn't get up the Spider Climb portion of the final though

much to the agony of his supporters!

awww the kids look cute! Hope some day Malaysia gets around to finally televising this.. it's ridiculous how long they've waited.. this was in May!

Anyway this is Cat's preliminary run where he just flew past everything

making the course look ridiculously easy

including the final of which I was told he was not only the only one who completed it.. he did it very quickly!

LOL They gave him a Championship Belt as if he was a wrestler or boxer!

But dammit.. listen to Nagano.. so he does. Good boy Drew! Good boy! Kudo points

No words can express how disappointed he was. Really a shame because he really really is good. Just a bad day.

Yeah he was sticking out way too much and the momentum just threw him off the obstacle

and as usual TBS loves to show this type of raw emotion.. Come back again Cat we know you can do well!!! Hang in there! This obstacle has eaten Champions!

Next in the lineup are feet I don't recognize..

Oh!!!! It's ASA! Yep I know who he is.. but most people who don't follow my blog even really know who he is.

This is 朝一眞 Kazuma Asa whom I always refer to just as "Asa" simply because I just got used to it. LOL He looks so quiet and peaceful trimming hedges.. LOL

But in reality Asa is a loud rambunctious person! Some may even refer to him as "spazzy" LOL You know who you are!

For those few that have been following my blog for 3 years (thanks guys it really means a lot :) you then recognize this picture. This was from Sasuke Trials in Sasuke 21. This was actually my first trials blog back when Sasuke Maniac on TBS television still existed during the summer of 2008. If you look carefully Asa is on the left of the screen and Ryo is on the far right. They were the 2 to survive this heat.

Asa went on to qualify being top 8 during the Finals individual fast run of this stage and competed in Sasuke 21 timing out at the Warped Wall

I remember this.. /cries.. Sasuke 22 Trials where he was thrown in a tug of war.. and Ryo's and Asa's group lost (Kanno, Yuuji and Koji were part of the winning group)... that losing group had to do 800 meter run and and only the top 10 of the 30 were able to advance.

That's Asa in 3rd of the 30 (top 10 advanced) that were forced to do the 800 meter run for losing the tug of war. He didn't get past the next round though.

Asa's been easy to spot with his pension for elaborate body painting. Each with their own meaning. This was from Sasuke 21's trials. This one was 夢 "yume" which means "dream"

サスケ道、Sasuke "doh", "the way of Sasuke" (like judo, sado (flower ceremony), it means "the way" In Chinese, it's the tao of Taoism), all martial arts use "do" as in training for it, you will reach enlightenment... hard to explain in English, in Japanese, it just makes sense

and this one showed up in Sasuke 27's trials which are yet to be aired. Seems M9 want us to pay for it... anyway... 頂 Itadaki, the peak, the top of... they often call the top of the tower Sasuke's itadaki

I could be wrong but I think this was Sasuke 27's trials

This I know most definitely was 22's Trials where he couldn't get up the Wall and failed to go on to the next elimination round

Okay seemed he had problems again at the Warped Wall in Sasuke 27 Trials

oh and he failed to complete it! Wow and he's here?

Then lineing up at the end of the day. I assume many didn't finish the course as they are waiting for their names to be called. Then out of nowhere #9 was called

which corresponded to Asa's saddlecloth. This is him finding out he did manage to come back to Sasuke after 3 years!

So TBS/M9 gave him a chance even though he didn't finish the course in Trials

Getting a second chance to come back from his last defeat in Sasuke from Sasuke 22 which was way back in 2008.

Here he is in Sasuke 27 ready to take his turn at redemption!

and this tournament's message: 魂：meaning spirit or soul, so his back is meant to read "The spirit of Sasuke or the soul of Sasuke"

Okay Kouji caught on and both Okuyama and Shingo are staring at the clock..

oh.. does he have time??? oh oh.. cannonballs..

I see TBS finds that a good time for commercials.. LOL

and we are back and whoooooooooo.. he's almost taking a header!

His heart must be racing LOL "should" be enough time.. he's at the Tarzan Rope

oh oh taking time to unravel himself from the Tarzan Rope at the bottom of that rope wall thing

LOL he takes a gander at the clock...

and the emotion of seeing he's got PLENTY of time is starting to overtake him

and he's DONE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Asa has passed the first stage!!!!!!

and he's doing a Kongo-worthy celebration and he jumps up and down!

and totally loses his marbles!

and then utterly collapses LOL

and the crowd is going nuts!

Kouji who has competed against him at trials at least 3 straight times (I didn't know about Sasuke trials before that) understands how sweet this feels

and the screaming continues! I'm so happy for him!

heh.. I see Kawaguchi's head to the right of the screen. I wonder if he is going to be shown? Did he compete?

Oh check it out. Yamada (who was at most of the Trials - Definitely 22 and 27) is there to greet him. Wow.. he's really mellowing out and actually caring!

PDA!!!! LOL This is just too sweet. Shocking TBS kept this since usually this type of behavior is never shown

Okay the first of the Americans! Cool I figured TBS would show his run. They are fascinated by mysterious people

The next competitor earned his way through American Ninja Warrior (3 to be exact) which of course we knew since this aired in August, 2011 on G4 and then on NBC so I'm 100% spoiled for this.. /sigh

Here are the poor souls who had to work their asses off to be here. ANW's top 10 (out of more than 300 iirc). It's a shame I hated the format of the show.. anyway... David Rodriguez who is up next is on the far right

as he's packing he's pointing to what intrigues everyone that sees them

The commercial stopped right... here.. most of you might recognize him from the previous Navi's (and trials) where he actually had Bunpei Shiratori speak at his wedding! He was also the dude with the object people couldn't figure out.. it was a television antennae!
