Sasuke 27 - Spoilerific Review - Part 9

(PART 1) (PART 2) (PART 3) (PART 4) (PART 5) (PART 6) (PART 7) (PART 8)

Sasuke spoilerific review ;) Warning.. incoming blog of Sasuke 27.. if you don’t want to know.. you have been warned :D (Just remember.. the USA Broadcast of this.. will be.. well.. March, 2012.. Yes.. you read that right.. another 5 months after taping this event back in July... Thanks to everyone for being so patient. Got sick with headaches again this year and am still recovering from an inner ear infection.. yum.. Anyway.. For a preview of this event.. Please see SASUKE 27 NAVI 1 hour review of Sasuke 27 with fluff pieces of all the major players in the upcoming Sasuke and even a couple of runs that were cut from the official broadcast!. Oh.. and as Ube says: If you are from the G4 Forums, DON'T POST THIS THERE. They expect everyone to stick their head in the sand and pretend it doesn't exist.. P.S. I will NOT be covering ANW3 on this blog especially since it aired a couple months ago and I prefer to blog about everyone at once.. not in isolation! Thanks!

(Massive thanks to Ube for his help on the names in English and Japanese of all the competitors!!)

27 Clears for Sasuke 27! Cue dramatic lineup! (and no for the last time this is not a record.. we had 37 clears in Sasuke 4)
Btw as an aside.. amazing what you get when you give 2 months warning for a tournament instead of 2 WEEKS warning.. just saying..

He has 2nd stage obstacles that he built and trains with

so he shouldn't suck!

Chick "you were the fastest challengers.."

David: Well, My goal isn't to be the fastest.. it's just to clear it so go on to stage 3 and 4. But, I'm going to go as fast as I can and it's always nice to be beat my teammates."

.. because I can :)

Yuuji Urushihara 漆原裕治

朝一眞 Kazuma Asa

Ryo Matachi 又地諒

Naoki Iketani 池谷直樹

Yoshiyuki Okuyama 奥山義行

Wakky ワッキー

LOL he's talking about the group he's in and the fact that he's a "Japanese Comedian" (yes.. said in English) LOL

Less annoying announcer Fumiyasu Satō 佐藤 文康

Phew.. ready for Stage 2! That's on the right of your screen. You are looking at an arial shot since TBS has to justify the crane.. LOL Anyway.. Far left is Stage 4, top middle lit in white is Stage 3, multicolored box on the right is Stage 2 and the unlit portion at the bottom is the huge Stage 1.

Whoot here we go! 1 of 27

First up is Hitoshi Kanno 菅野仁志 - Gymnast - Finalist in Sasuke 23

Yuuji seems to be the only one enthused! LOL

Dude what's going on?

Actually he's hurt.. did you see the bandage?

Yikes that sucks...

Yeah that bandage is pretty wicked.. so yeah he must have fubarred it on saving himself on the Spin Bridge earlier :(

He backs up to get a good run at the pole

And he's in agonizing pain... but he's still going..

and he clears the ① Slider Drop スライダードロップ

oh.. this is painful to watch.. I think he dislocated it...

Both Nagano and Yuuji know he's hurt

and discuss that he should stop

Yuuji yells Kanno to Stop (which actually is similar to Shingo a few tourneys back where they knew he would not do well and just called it off for him)

TBS rewinding back to Kanno

and he calls it off

Hitoshi Kanno 菅野仁志 - Retired/Injury

HD replay clearly shows how much pain he was in

By the time he got here it was pretty much over.. so sad :( He had a great first stage too!

damn this is so frustrating :(

Get better Kanno! Kick ass in 28!

守上大輔 Daisuke Morikami

Muscle Musical マッスルミュージカル/Pro MTB Rider

Survived the Slider Drop

Up next is the ② Double Salmon Ladder ダブルサーモンラダー

slowly going through it but manages to clear it!

Unstable Bridge アンステーブルブリッジ

Cool he's over the gap but he's taking an eternity...

WHOA he almost fell in! LOL

Dude that would have sucked!

Balance Tank バランスタンク

and he's through but time is seriously evaporating

Klaxon blaring and he tries to rush the ⑤ Metal Spin メタルスピン

Oooooooooh that suuuuucks..

Oh.. I know exactly how that feels like.. that ate me too in the past..

守上大輔 Daisuke Morikami - Death by Metal Spin

Yeah he gripped it too far down and didn't have much rope left to hang on to when his weight pulled him down

He had a good tourney though! Great job on passing Stage 1!

Shipping department?

He's had a fluff piece before where he ripped a telephone book in pieces!

Luckily they are choosing to show his great accomplishment of being a SCH conqueror and being in the 3rd stage

and how he utterly destroyed the Spider Flip instead of concentrating on how he fell in the next obstacle :(

Okay! Tajima ready to go!

wtf is up with him and poles and rings? Does he have a phobia??

Naoya Tajima 田島直弥 - Death by Slider Drop

I hear ya..

He seemed straight..

then pulled too hard on his right..

Aww man.. he's going to get a complex about friggin' poles..

Next up is Mask Man! (actually in this clip they say Zebra) Yes.. that's what they are calling him LOL

as expected they are fascinated with the masks

Then go on about his "performance" (translation showcase or exhibition) on the first stage

similar to the language they use whenever Levi does this

デイヴィド・F・ロドリゲス David Rodriguez

sorry.. was spoiled by the NBC broadcast so this wasn't a shock
Announcer is screaming MASK MAN!!

but live in Japan this is HOLY CRAP time

"Mask Man!"

デイヴィド・F・ロドリゲス David Rodriguez - Death by Slider Drop

LOL Sorry I find this cute. He manages to save everything from going in the water.

He saves his mask and his hat and the pole! Most just leave it in the pool LOL

on the way down

and he pulls it to the left

Chick: Sorry you didn't make it
Young Flip: It's alright

Young Flip: The Pipe slider was a lot slicker than I thought. I just underestimated it.

Yay we get to see a full run.. usually gets the FF treatment.. LOL

Finalist from Sasuke 24 Kouji Hashimoto 橋本亘司

A gymnast who has become a "Sports Instructor" (what we call personal trainers)

as you can tell he loves working with Children as well

Sasuke 24 marked his Finals breakthrough!

Sasuke 26 though he was defeated by the Metal Spin

Parents names: mother is Chihoko 千歩子 and father Hiroyuki 広幸

This is the home of his parents back in Shimane Prefecture. Kouji moved away from home to attend a prestigious boarding school for High School then again away for College and still lives away from home.

There are displayed all of this saddle cloths. The ones with just numbers are all the Sasuke Trials Saddlecloths, the Sasuke ones are obvious and the certificates are the ones you earn for passing Sasuke Trials.

Proud parents love displaying their son's achievements. LOL Mom is saying he will achieve Kanzenseiha :)

I see he's training on rope!

aerial shot of Sasuke's Second Stage

Kouji Hashimoto 橋本亘司

Left is father Hiroyuki 広幸 and next to him in the middle is mother is Chihoko 千歩子

Reminder: Obstacles for the 2nd stage remain the same! ① Slider Drop スライダードロップ
Hmm.. the pole is sticking.. I know it was humid as all hell with the Typhoon fast approaching.. this might be reason for the problems on it

nice speed and control on the ② Double Salmon Ladder ダブルサーモンラダー

safely across the gap

Unstable Bridge アンステーブルブリッジ

safely across the gap as well

Balance Tank バランスタンク

safely across as well :)

Taking a pause before the ⑤ Metal Spin メタルスピン

LOL His poor Mom doing a quick prayer.. this is where he failed the last time

Hanging on!!!

Whoot cleared!

Mom opened her eyes after hearing everyone clapping

Wall Lifting ウォールリフティング
50 kg = 110 lbs 40 kg = 88 lbs 30 kg = 66 lbs

No problems with the first wall

or the 2nd as he shows he can lift each wall above his head

and the third!

and the crowd goes wild

we got someone through! Wasn't he the 3rd person going? I lost track.. TBS screwing with the numbers is really throwing me off today

Hopeful now as a former finalist has passed

Kouji Hashimoto 橋本亘司 - SECOND STAGE CLEAR!!!

I want a doll made out of her.. she's so cute!!! Between her bouncing and covering up her smile and her tears.. she's just too kawaii

celebration clap before the end of the stage

emphatic stop of the clock to mark the first clear

now.. TBS stop fast forwarding him.. he's a friggin' star I tell you!

Yuuji being interviewed

金子陽祐 Yosuke Kaneko from Muscle Musical マッスルミュージカル

They finished their 2 year run and came back just in time for Sasuke

reminding everyone he passed the first stage. Uhm.. we know.. that's how we are in the 2nd stage.. Ah! Ube says he was the fastest of the Japanese competitors. Gotcha!

Okay! Clear on the Slider Drop

up one side of the Double Salmon Ladder

and.. doooooooooooooooooh

Totally whiffed on the transfer

LOL Strat screamed out "JEEEEEEEEESUS".. as they all see this guy drop head first into the water

double scream here too... as Nagano leans forward to see if he is okay.. that head first was scary to look at!

meanwhile the prat Naoki just laughing and teaching his son how to be just as bad as him..

金子陽祐 Yosuke Kaneko - Death (thank God not literally) by Double Salmon Ladder

Time for our favorite Spazz :)

lol this picture just does NOT fit.. he's totally calm trimming shrubbery..

Asa's been easy to spot with his pension for elaborate body painting. Each with their own meaning. This was from Sasuke 21's trials. This one was 夢 "yume" which means "dream"

サスケ道、Sasuke "doh", "the way of Sasuke" (like judo, sado (flower ceremony), it means "the way" In Chinese, it's the tao of Taoism), all martial arts use "do" as in training for it, you will reach enlightenment... hard to explain in English, in Japanese, it just makes sense

and this one showed up in Sasuke 27's trials which are yet to be aired. Seems M9 want us to pay for it... anyway... 頂 Itadaki, the peak, the top of... they often call the top of the tower Sasuke's itadaki

this tournament's message: 魂:meaning spirit or soul, so his back is meant to read "The spirit of Sasuke or the soul of Sasuke"

after his 1st stage clear Asa showed raw emotion that I'm happy TBS aired

LOL someone is chanting something to him then he calls back.. Did it 3 times and each time was louder!

朝一眞 Kazuma Asa

FLYING on the Slider Drop

having a bit of trouble on the Double Salmon Ladder

awwww.. he managed to get to the other side of it .. but lost it on the last rung!

couldn't make the higher run gap

Friends devastated

LOL Screencapping can sometimes make pics funny

朝一眞 Kazuma Asa - Death by Double Salmon Ladder

I see they took out the "training wheels" of the pole.. maybe Naoki's fail last tourney had something to do with it..

Come back Asa!

Swinging emotions as usual for Nagano.. Typical TBS asking him but Nagano saying he will be okay on the Salmon Ladder

脊戸田英次 Hidetsugu Setoda
Poor guy got the double FF treatment.. He works for M9 but gets no special treatment!

doh.. 脊戸田英次 Hidetsugu Setoda - Death by Slider Drop

Nagano going into his Unhappy Land™

上遠野裕也 Yuuya Kadono also getting the double FF treatment - Death by Double Salmon Ladder

Another double FF.. 横山直樹 Naoki Yokoyama - Death by Double Salmon Ladder

yet another double FF - ジェイク・スミス Jacob Smith - Death by Double Salmon Ladder

and just like that.. 11 down but only 1 clear.. Yikes.. Stage 2 is a bloodbath today!

Which with Takeda gone is doing wonders to Nagano's fragile psyche..
