That damned Mountain! COP Mission 3-3 / Guide to Climbing Attohwa Chasm Mountain

Continuing our journey in FFXI and going through all of the various mission Final Fantasy XI has to offer.  This particular video covers Chains of Promathia (COP) Mission 3-3B (Windurst Route) that involves scaling the mountain in the East side of Attohwa Chasm.  Once you receive the Mimeo Jewel and have to run up the mountain before it's light fades (and you have to do the quest over again..).  There is no jumping in FFXI so you have to go through a stupid path up the mountain falling off ledges until you get to the top. You have to get to the top within 1 real life hour and not use any exploits (including using a Nexus Cape..).  It was as annoying as I remember!

Starting in Vanadiel - 2018 - Maat Fight - FFXI Level Cap 70 Quest

Continuing our journey in FFXI from scratch requires you to do a series of quests to raise your level cap from 50-99 in intervals of 5 on your first highest job. We used to call these the "Genkai" quests since Genkai means Limit in Japanese and the game originated in Japan in 2001.

In my case (in 2018) I chose to take my Thief job to the level cap of 99 first.  In this video I complete the level cap 70 quest where you had to fight Maat to allow you to get to the previous Game level cap of 75.  It was the final quest pre-Abyssea era and what veteran players were all too familiar with in order to even touch end-game content at the time.  I had a hard time with it in the past but apparently a new mechanic was included if you progressed through the Rhapsodies of Vanadiel questline up to where you received the Key Item "Rhapsody in Umber".  If you have this key item you can fight Maat with the full aid of 4 Trusts of your choice!  Needless to say I was happy to faceroll Maat after years of dying to him over and over.

A collection of tips on how to get started playing Final Fantasy XI on PC.  I've noticed that there are very few videos for new players (or old returning players that are new to this content) and decided to walk you around showing you NPC's that are helpful when first starting out.  I recorded this on October 16, 2018.

In this video I cover Records of Eminence (Sparks, money tips, equipment options, xp gains, bonuses), Trusts (where to get them, how to start getting them and how to use them), Rhapsodies in Vanadiel (helpful storyline that streamlines the process of acquiring useful unlocks for any player both starting and veteran) and show starting NPC's that are useful for a brand new character or even a returning one that has never started this content.

Space Battleship Yamato 2199 - 1979 Starblazers Theme Cover by Arsenette

In celebration of the Funimation release of "Space Battleship Yamato 2199" on Bluray/DVD in both English and Japanese for the Western audience (Amazon affiliated link: https://amzn.to/2nLSQBD ) I wanted to do something special.  Inspired by the ワンドロヤマト "One hour drawing Yamato" that goes on in Japan via Twitter #ymt60draw (Thanks to Poki for the heads up - https://twitter.com/popoki_cat/status/1030108912031158272 ) I wanted to try doing something that took me an hour to do.  I don't draw that well anymore so I figured I try singing the theme song in English.  There is no English version for the 2199 version so I reverted back to my original version from way back in 1979.  I arranged it to be a slower pace than the original (inspired by the early episodes of 2199) and a Capella since I didn't want to use the original music. These are the English Lyrics to Starblazers as it aired in Season 1 in the West when I was a kid. Hope you like it and please mind the scratchy voice as I'm suffering from cedar allergies which apparently are brand new to me.

Please support the original releases as they are near and dear to my heart.  The original 2199 crew that remade a FANTASTIC series and made it better, Crunchyroll for license rescuing it and bring the original to the West and Funimation for an amazing English dub.  Now with a great Bluray release it is a perfect time to jump into the series as a new fan while honoring the nostalgia for the original.  I'm still holding out hope that some day Funimation dubs the song in English for us old geezers that still sing these English lyrics every time the opening to this show starts. LOL

No Mans Sky: Next - PS4 Compilation (Fresh Start)

No Man's Sky was released 2 years ago on PS4 and I played dozens of hours when it first came out.  Then I took a break until the new updates came out.  It's been a year since then and I decided to start fresh from a brand new save with the NEXT update.  I'm relearning the game from scratch and so much has changed from when I first started! I love the new changes even if I'm really rusty.  I'm very happy that this games feels brand new and I didn't have to pay for more updates. All of these are free with purchase of the game!

Excited about Season 2 of Space Battleship Yamato 2202 (Star Blazers) coming to the west!  Funimation (English Dub) and Crunchyroll are airing Season 2 of the remake of Star Blazers even as Japan is still airing Season 2 in the movie theaters!  This is a new story-line that was added to the series and is one of my favorite series of all time.

10 year anniversary for Rambling Rican! New Banner (Finally)!

New website banner!

Geez. I've been around for a decade!  10 years have flown by!  And as per tradition.. I forgot to update the banner.. Last year I managed to get it up by April 1.. but this year it was busy with me moving to our first home!  Dust is still settling from the move but I'm starting to get back into it again with updating site stuff and trying to revamp my lineup.  I'm still working on stuff in the background and hoping they will see the light of day.  In the meantime I've been live-streaming gaming on Twitch on occasion and doing anime vlogs on YouTube between doing two different podcasts (one for gaming and one for animation, cartoons, etc.) also on YouTube.

Hey everyone!  It had occurred to me that in a couple short weeks I'll be celebrating 10 years (officially) on YouTube (March 12) and later in the month (March 25) 10 years here on Rambling Rican!  WOW.. I'm in the middle of moving out of an apartment to a house (we move late'ish March) between both anniversaries.. but I wanted to celebrate! I will be doing a video similar to how William did his a few months ago to celebrate 10 years with a huge Q&A video.  Yes, that includes mostly Sasuke but I'll cover as much of that as I can!  I will be doing it in the new place and hopefully brand new office (so I'm no longer behind the couch!
