3rd Stage of Sasuke 22

Yuuji Urushihara 漆原裕治 (#3 Cliffer) - Shoe salesman feeling fantabuloso right now

Hitoshi Kanno 菅野仁志 (and his goatee of death) - Gymnast feeling anxious about the Shin Cliffhanger

Lee Yen Chi リー・エンチ - Rock Climber from Taiwan

Yoshiyuki Okuyama 奥山義行 - Former World Sprinter.. dude.. is he totally smiling?

Welcome folks to the 3rd stage! Lemme give ya a tour :p

They start here because quite frankly this is the first major test.. Note that they mention Arm rings (1), Lamp Grasper which I affectionately call them "Hanging Balls..." (2), Devil Steps (3) and of course.. the Shin-Cliffhanger which to my knowledge the dimentions have not changed since 18 (slight mod on the frame itself in 19 to fix the problem that Nagano found in Sasuke 18).

First Death by Shin-Cliffhanger was Shunsuke Nagasaki 長崎 峻侑 - Trampolinist

This was in Sasuke 18 back in March 21, 2007

Next to get pwned was Takahashi Kenji 高橋賢次 - KONG EXPRESS

Also from Sasuke 18 back in March 21, 2007

They didn't show Nagano's DQ also from Sasuke 18 but the next person to even GET to the Shin-Cliffhanger was Levi Meeuwenberg

He was the only person to get there a year later in Sasuke 20 on March 26, 2008
Obviously the 2 clears were All-Stars Toshihiro Takeda 竹田敏浩 and Makoto Nagano 長野誠 and both in Sasuke 21

The next major obstacle is actually the 6th obstacle called Hang Climbing (it's connected by the Jumping Bars and connects to the Spider Flip)

Hang Climbing was of course the thing that pwned Takeda in Sasuke 21 on September 17, 2008

.. here's the Spider Flip.. Only one person has even gotten to it (and defeated it) and that was Makoto Nagano 長野誠 in Sasuke 21 who coincidently beat the Heartbreaker in Viking from which this particular obstacle was derived. The difference in that one was that you exited the obstacle from the top of the other side and ended the stage while this one you continue by climbing underneath it to the Gliding Ring

Which of course takes us to the Grinding.. er.. Gliding Ring.

In Sasuke 21 on September 17, 2008 it was Nagano who was defeated on this. The obstacle had a bit of a malfunction where the ring did not glide on the pole as originally intended.

And thus ended the dream of a 5th final stage appearance by Makoto Nagano

Okuyama is downright giddy! I can't believe how much he's smiling!! I'm stoked!

Kanno is up first.. so I think that's why he looks more nervous to me

First to go is Kanno

"Friend" - i.e. hoochie mama, sugar girl, babe, significant other.. yeah.. that's P.C. Kanno's sugar lips.. er.. Lady friend.. :)

Kanno meet the first obstacle.. Arm Rings.. meet Kanno

The meeting is going well!

Next are the hanging balls.. wait.. I think the Sasuke calls this the Lamp Grasper while G4 inexplicably still calls this the Globe Grasp.. whatever.. hanging balls is next

Yuuji is cheering on while we get a glimpse of David Campbell and Levi Meeuwenberg watching along.. P.S. That's a lot of mud..

Kanno: I'm practically nekkid.. I should have brought a shirt.. my nipples are falling off it's so cold..

Clearing just nicely!

Time to goop up again with Sasuke Spray before tackling the 3rd obstacle the Devil Steps. The same obstacle that pwned Daisuke Miyazaki 宮﨑大輔 in Sasuke 21

I always take a breath before this part.. I mean no one has fallen yet.. (knock on wood) on the mounting but still.. it's definately precarious to see them turn backwards over water just to mount this thing

Everyone charging up energy for Kanno's attempt on the next obstacle.. one that every kid going to Muscle Park trains for..

But first.. more Sasuke Spray... Oh.. I see Kanno sees the show.. and must like Nagano.. he's invoking his rule :p

Taking his time before he takes this beast on.. the Shin-Cliffhanger

Here he goes..

Transitioning to the 2nd ledge..

.. swing to build momentum for the jump..

He catches the ledge!!

.. but is violently swinging.. oh don't fall off like Takeda did a few years ago on the last ledge..

But first.. Japanese Beeno.. or is that a laxative.. wtf is that thing? Dude looks constipated.. has to be Exlax..

Meanwhile.. TBS is sorry to keep you hanging.. Not..

Phew! He clears it! And is ecstatic! That's 3 clears on the Shin-Cliffhanger!

Parents are elated!

Yuuji gives the thumbs up!

Kanno noticing that Nagano wasn't kidding about complaining how far the first bar is to the Jumping Bars now...

Okay! Mounting of the 5th obstacle is complete! Jumping Bars

This is where it gets tricky.. time to turn around..

and go directly into the Hang Climber with no rest..

This is where Takeda got pwned the last time.. only 2 people before him have ever been this far..

And seeing Takeda last year .. he uses his feet. Nagano was too bada$$ and didn't use his feet :p But then again.. Nagano isn't human so that doesn't count..

Looking a little winded but still going strong.. he's getting ready for the Spider flip!

Here he goes! Only 1 other person has gotten this far.. ever!

Let's see if he's got anything left in the tank to make it to the ledge

Sugar lips is watching and praying

So is Mom :) The praying.. not the sugar lips.. well... at least for her son.. oh I'm digressing.. moving on..

Kanno's dad is reminding me that it's HIS Sugar lips so that's cool :)

Hello Spider flip!

He's having all kinds of trouble..

yeah he's getting off course entirely..

Yeah it's over.. he's DQ'ed.. damn.. he must be saving himself from dropping into the water at this point

Oh that's so sad.. he was so close but he looks obliterated..

I told you Satan devised this course..

Everyone is in a stunned silence..

yeah he's completely on the support beams.. completely off the course entirely..

Now he's climbing on it to rest..

Everyone is in utter shock while Kanno is sucking air and probably in shock and frustrated beyond comprehension right now

He's just spent.. I've never seen anything like this before actually

That's some strong fingers.. LOL

And shows another angle of what happened on the Spider Flip

He started fine.. but even then you noticed he was starting to make a decision.. go up and risk falling in the water?

but he chose to not do that and get DQ'ed instead.. I wonder why he did that. I guess he didn't want to drown since he had no strength left.. or thought he might get injured falling into the water from that distance.. we may never know why he decided not to just drop in the water.

Made worse by the fact that I have no bloody clue what he's saying because I don't know Japanese..

Dang it's hard watching a grown man cry

I feel so bad for him :( I hope he gets an invite again instead of having to requalify!
