No one has gotten to the final for Sasuke 23.. can the next person get there??
Yoshiyuki Okuyama 奥山義行 is up next!
Picture of him from 2001 back during his track running days! (I posted where this came from before.. )
Yoshiyuki Okuyama 奥山義行 on the far right of the photo. He is a Gym Instructor for
Tipness (thanks Ube).
The last time (Sasuke 22) he was stopped by the Shin Cliffhanger
Since then he's been practicing on ledges at his home
And the flag waves on..
The Shin-Cliffhanger calls for him.. (already pwned once today :p )
Yoshiyuki Okuyama 奥山義行 getting ready for this Stage 3 run!
He's taking a lot of deep breaths and wringing out his hands in preparation
Okuyama family looks on!
Arm rings are no problem :)
Onward to the Lamp Grasper
More Sasuke Spray...
Wow check out his arm..
No problems with the Devil Steps
LOL There's a towel to wipe off that crap off your hands.. I guess they got tired of Nagano using the poles to wipe the grime..
Yoshiyuki Okuyama 奥山義行 ready to exact his revenge on the Shin Cliffhanger!!
Here he goes.. c'mon.. you can do it...
YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!
Quiet celebration.. LOL this guy is so laid back. He got beat the crap out of it and he's still sedate.
Okay.. okay.. that's about as animated as he gets.. a double fist pump!
Okuyama family at least knows how to celebrate!!
Shingo clapping while watching intently
Okay now he celebrates with a smile!
Nagano joins in
Take a drink! Replay during the run!
All that practicing helped! Revenge is sweet!!
Onwards to the Jumping bars and they pose no problems either!
Methodically going up the Hang Climber! He's just plugging away!
Okay.. here comes the hard part.. transition to the Spider Jump
Easing his way to the vertical part...
C'mon.. you can do it....
Phew.. he's up! That's 2 in a row!
Watching very carefully to see how far he has to jump
Kids screaming encouragement (one looking live and the other looking at Memorex..)
And here he goes...
OH no.. nonononono.. he's .. he's crooked!!!!!
OMG NO!!!!!!!!!! he's sliding down the other side!!!!!!!!!
OMG that's gotta hurt.. NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
OMG that's just horrible!!!!!!!!
Replays are helping me understand what went wrong!
He didn't turn all the way around..
Overhead shot should show it better
Yeah.. there it is.. his legs were completely on the left side of the obstacle (right side of the screen)
Watching intently..
Wow.. Takeda beat Nagano for once...
Kenji's blind..
Nagano looking over to Shingo while Takeda feels that internally
Wait for it....
Aw man that sucks :(
Yoshiyuki Okuyama 奥山義行 - Death by Spider Flip
That's disappointing though he did revenge his loss at the Shin Cliffhanger
This had to have hurt..
Best picture so far showing how far to his left he was
Ouch.. this hurts to watch!
I don't want to know how bad he cut up his hands...
Yoshiyuki Okuyama 奥山義行 He's a really classy guy
Yoshiyuki Okuyama 奥山義行 Great tournament though.. KICK SOME BUTT IN SASUKE 24!!
Shingo clapping for Okuyama
.. he knows he's next.. turns to his left..
To talk to the rest of the All-Stars
Shingo: Dude.. I seriously hope I don't have a screw-up like that..
Nagano: Nah.. you are safe.. you'll find another spectacular way to do it..
Revolting chickens can be heard!
After a 2 1/2 year absense.. he returns!!
.. and nothing has changed.. LOL
All-star Shingo Yamamoto 山本進悟 is getting ready for Stage 3
He's making an awful lot of faces...
... wtf..
Oh crap.. this is NOT good..
he's.. smiling.. and looking at the guys.. I'm hearing all kinds of yelling..
(He's said to have said "I can't feel anything")
Nagano even louder..
Friend of mine says he said "Just drop... it's not worth it"...
.. and on cue.. he drops ...
.. wow.. All-star Shingo Yamamoto 山本進悟 - Death by Arm Rings
Oh yeah.. he's hurt.. and it seems they were waiting for him...
/sigh.. yep he re-injured his shoulder (most likely at the dive under the Wall Lift)..
.. that would explain this picture... sorta.. wouldn't it be his other arm?
And would explain why everyone was so calm..
Seems he knew he was royally screwed and he went to try it out anyway...
But since he couldn't feel his right arm (specifically his fingers) he just couldn't hang on
Having my own years of shoulder problems.. this is one of the most FRUSTRATING things to watch.. I feel bad for him.. he's going to have to pray for better luck in the future and pray that shoulder gets better for Sasuke 24 in 2 months...
His wife Eiko looking on..
妻 = wife (the small type on the top left)
英子 = Eiko and さん = san (which is basically Mr., Ms., Mrs., etc.)
It's so rare that they show her. She usually just hides and watches in anonymity with their pet poodle by her side.
Kanno is in the verge of tears.. he's a big All-Star fan..
Levi in shock watching.. and noticing .. oh crap I go next..
Levi starting to get ready for his run
Takeda watching as they get Shingo out of the water
Same with Nagano
The "that too bad" face
Looking at Takeda for agreement
Shingo Yamamoto 山本進悟 has got to be uber frustrated...
Yeah.. and I did all that trash-talking earlier...
Kanno is still in despair

God that looks like the most brutal stage 3 ever.
Poor Shingo. I can sympathize about the shoulder since I have shoulder problems, too. I hope this new injury isn't going to cause permanent damage for him.
Yeah.. Stage 3 is downright eville....
Tiger I don't think it will. I'm happy his friends were there to support him in the decision to just drop before it got worse.
Yeah, and it's good that he listened to Nagano. Better for him to have to stop then than for him to injure himself to the point where he can't compete in 24. Hope the shoulder doesn't give him any trouble in the next tournament. I want to see him achieve kanzen seiha. I know he can do it! Go Shingo!
Very much agreed! I want Shingo back and as heartbreaking as it was to see him drop like that. I'd rather see that and see him come back for 24! Sasuke without Shingo is just not Sasuke.
it was painful to watch Okuyama's spider flip.
In my humble opinion, he made a big mistake in not letting his hands go as it was evident he did not stand a chance when he was clearly "off the alignment" ( pardon my english ). He should have let go instead of risking injury. Takeda escaped unhurt but i think Okuyama hands must be so badly hurt i think he will have to miss maybe weeks of shin-cliff training.
it is sad as he refuse to give up & hung on but this will only increase his injury ( excuse my english )
I can only assume it happens so fast it's instinct to try to grab on to anything.. maybe he was hoping he could catch the bottom ledge? Hard to say and unless he said something in the interview we won't know for sure :( Hope he's okay for 24!
