Sasuke 24 aftermath and news

It's been about 2 weeks since the end of Sasuke 24 but I just finished all 21 blogs on the show. If you missed it.. not sure where you have been LOL .. just kidding :p You can start by reading Blog #1 of Sasuke 24 and work your way up to 21. During this time there were a few things that got updated in the SasukeLand™. I'll be covering 3 of these starting with the Nagano commercial on the air in Japan right now.

A couple days ago Takasui corp updated Makoto Nagano's website (not the actual page but the link is up on the main page) with a commercial they are running in the Kagoshima Area of Japan. It's the first time I see a TV commercial (though they might have been more.. this is the first I'm ever aware of). It's nice to see Nagano up front on there even if he looks a little like a fish out of water. It's still very cute :) The hotel itself is called Hotel Zerocity and the restaurant is called Konpiramaru Restaurant. Those know the restaurant is named after the Konpiramaru 28 that is Captained by Captain Makoto Nagano 長野 誠. What most people don't know is that the "28" stands for the age in which Nagano was made Captain of that ship.

The other thing that most people don't know is what is behind the meaning of "Zerocity". It became apparent recently that they noticed foreigners not understanding that they view "Zero" to be a positive number as opposed to the negative view that most people think of in the United States when they view that number. "Zero" or "0" is actually the beginning of their numbering system for them while in the USA we start with "One" or "1". So they think ZeroCity is the beginning of a new way of hotel management. They hope to convey that to foreigners through their professional staff and services when they visit and stay at the Hotel Zerocity. They are hoping that will change their views on the word Zero.

The 30 second commercial itself was not the only thing on the website. There was a small note at the top of the post expressing a heartfelt apology for his (Nagano's) failure in Sasuke 24. Geez.. I know it's ingrained in the Japanese culture to always apologize to others who cheer for them when things don't work out.. but I can't help feel bad that he has to go out of his way to apologize to his fans for his miss in Sasuke 24. He does vow to train and come back better on Sasuke 25. That is good news since the stupid announcer kept saying that the All-Stars are finished... We know at least one of the All-Stars will return!

A few people noted that they had trouble with the 6 meg file that was on the Takasui website so I took the time and uploaded the full commercial on Youtube for your viewing pleasure. For those of you who are curious as to what Nagano was shouting in the commercial it's something fairly simple. "Come, eat our fish" "We just caught them, they're fresh." Noting the connection between the fact that Takasui is first and foremost a fishing company and the fact that you KNOW it's fresh fish since they caught it themselves. So if you are ever in the Kagoshima area feel free to stop by and stay at the Hotel Zerocity and eat at the Konpiramaru Restaurant!

Next on the stuff that happened within the last couple weeks was of course Sportsman #1. This year was a bit different since the only thing they held this year was a special 50 man Monster Box competition. Throughout the broadcast they had a sort-of history special. We thought it would concentrate on the actual Sportsman #1 but it turned out to be other events that were on previous Monster 9 competition like Banzuke and Muscle World. It aired on January 7th. Either way I'll be blogging soon™ about the Monster Box competition since it featured 3 of the All-Stars and various other Sasuke participants that we've come to know and love throughout the years. This picture I posted was actually sent to Maho Tanaka from Takeda after the show aired. They did appearances together back in December in Muscle Park.

I swear this kid is training to be a rockstar.. This is Ryo Matachi 又地 諒 (#2 Cliffer)

Following the success of Yuuji Urushihara 漆原裕治 (Cliffer #3) in Sasuke 24 the rest of the Cliffers have left for Chiba, Japan to continue training for Sasuke 25. UNCLI as we know them today are also joined by other STQ'ers to continue training for the unknown since they expect a whole new course in Sasuke 25. Considering also that only Yuuji has a guaranteed invite, the rest of UNCLI most likely will have to be forced to go back to Sasuke Trials even though they've shown a lot of promise in previous Sasuke's and have been there from the beginning owning Muscle Park Obstacles and various Festivals throughout the years. We are rooting for them in hopes that all 5 UNCLI members will be allowed to return to Sasuke 25 to usher in a new era after Yuuji's Kanzenseiha.

To put it in a nutshell-- :)

Super trivia quiz: Has there ever been a STQ who passed the first stage and had to to the trials again?

Just curious, the announcer mentioned that Tajima was extremely happy to make it to the third stage because it meant that he didn't have to do trials
again...

There isn't a rule book but doesn't convention have it that if you reached the third stage, I think you are at least asked back for the next competition... I think generally people who didn't complete second stage also gets an invite, such as Koji Hashimoto... and maybe Washimi?

So you know I am hoping for a Kawaguchi invite. And just once, bury the hatchet and have all five UNCLIs and see how they fare against the All-stars! Go Ryo Matachi! Go Keita Tomino! (Wishful thinking, I know)

Hmm not sure about the going back to trials after PASSING the first stage.. but I understand their trepidation. My guess is that Tajima was just so freaked out making sure he didn't have to go back through that hell that he did enough to not warrant it.. or even be cut from the show.. Lord knows how many did well but got cut from the show thus precipitating them having to return to trials. All of UNCLI had to go to trials.. even Yuuji did after failing on the flying Chute in 21 (where Ryo failed) even though he was a direct invite from the festival. Knowing the torture they have to go through and the bad planning on the part of TBS in doing the trials to begin with.. I'm sure they are hoping to just do good enough to not have to return. We'll see how Kawaguchi is treated since he passed the first stage but failed in the 2nd.. if he returns to trials then we have our answer..

LOL Awee.. it's clear from observation that TBS/M9 has something against the idea of UNCLI existing.
