Sasuke spoilerific review ;) Warning.. incoming blog of Sasuke 24.. if you don’t want to know.. you have been warned :D For a preview of this event.. Please see SASUKE NAVI FALL 2010 (1 hour review of Sasuke 24 with fluff pieces of all the major players in the upcoming Sasuke!) and the SASUKE PREVIEW SHOW that aired an hour before the official broadcast. Bare with me.. this show was 5 1/2 hour long (not including the specials..).. Aww man the tragedy in Haiti really threw me for a loop.. spent a good portion of the mornings watching TV and reading online. Oh.. and as Ube says: If you are from the G4 Forums, DON'T POST THIS THERE. They expect everyone to stick their head in the sand and pretend it doesn't exist..
UBE'S Sorta-LIVE-BLOG FOR SASUKE 24 IS HERE!
(Massive thanks to Ube for his help on the names in English and Japanese of all the competitors!!)
The history of the finals is as follows. From 1997-1999 we had the same final until one person finally defeated it - Kazuhiko Akiyama 秋山 和彦
From that date to October, 2006 the same final existed until another beat that version - Makoto Nagano 長野誠
This final has existed since Sasuke 22 (previously no one had even gotten to the final from Sasuke 18-21) (LOL THANK YOU VENUS)
The following tournament, Sasuke 23 on September 27, 2009 we had 2 more get to the final - Hitoshi Kanno 菅野仁志
Final: Check! Car: Check! 5 Finalists all lined up at the front with their harnesses.. Check! GET IT ON!
Comprised of the Heavenly Ladder ヘブンリーラダー (13 meters in length) and finishing with the G-Rope Gロープ (10 meters in length) making the whole obstacle distance of 23 meters - approximately 75 feet high)
TBS insistent spoiler on there being someone who wins so this is kinda anticlimactic after the drama from Takeda just what seems like a few minutes before but we know was a lot longer past that in real life. I have my guesses who will win.. and at this point I was still crying from Takeda so all of this was a blur.
This is his first Sasuke Final. Inn fact it's a first for the other 3 (with the exception of Yuuji who's coming back for his second try)
And up he goes! Pretty steady pace not too slow.. Ube and I were thinking if you get to the exchange on the G-rope by around 25 secs left or more you've got a good shot to beat it.. provided you are a good rope climber..
Yeah yeah.. It is the final, end of night.. TBS is throwing in all the commercials they saved from before.. so word of warning.. expect more interruptions from here on out.. in fact.. in the middle of all the runs..
BTW I will be blogging about Sportsman.. So excited to see Takeda smiling and happy after Sasuke 24 this particular video made me smile.. a LOT!
This kid's got Really good potential to get to another final and if he works on ropes more I think he can beat this thing!
Okuyama expressing his opinion.. all of this is still a blur.. I'm half paying attention and if I did I still wouldn't know wtf they are talking about LOL
All-Stars in attendance. Takeda still looks shell shocked while the other 4 are cheering on Lee's turn
Nagano's been there for Lee this whole tourney. He knows how difficult it was for Lee to even GET HERE
Again thank you TBS for providing airfare and accommodations for him at the 11th hour for him to even compete!
Seeing him at the final was vindication for that very smart decision to get him to get here even though JET TV no longer has Sasuke in Taiwan
Unfortunately he's already at 18 seconds and his foot is just coming off the ladder.. this is not good
Still though this was a great tournament for him. I don't want to sound cliche but it is true. It's awesome he got to the final after 3 years of competing on Sasuke
Btw not sure if I mentioned this before but this is the first time since Sasuke 8 where a foreigner even made it to the final. I know Ube mentioned it though.
Well we know what Lee will be working on when he got back to Taiwan. Hopefully he'll return with better rope climbing skills
Taiwan's Lee Enchi リー・エンチ being interviewed while the TBS guy is uhmm mounting the Chinese translator..
Yuuji is still doing everything he can to concentrate. He knows all the pressure is on him to win this now with no All-Stars left

19-21, 18 had a final? how come no one told me? lol you are so silly sometimes, RR. If I get thanked for this correction, Do Itashimashte!
1. the TBS chick looks cute. Sorry can't resist.:) Ube is right about having more incentive.
2. You seem to know a lot about Japanese Culture. :)
3. Obligatory Translation :):-
At the end of his final stage, Lee replied that it ( the final ) wasn't that hard but blames it ( his failure ) on "insufficient training". Unfortunately for me, i can't see how the translator chick looks like. :p
4. Reference to Yuuji:- Maybe it is a cultural thing but based on my experiences in real life, Americans are VERY safety-conscious ( spelling? ). Nothing wrong with safety but still...err...never mind :)
5. Actually i think Takeda should be fine. :) I didn't want to be asshole but you girls ( in part 19 ) were a bit...err...again never mind...ok i am a jerk. :p
6. Don't be too hard on the "idiot announcer", he is just doing his job ie. trash-talking sports commentator.Hey! Someone has got to play the bad guy! No big deal really. :p
7. in 1 of Yuuji's photos later ( the one in the lab or something ) i can't tell which of the guys is Yuuji! Lol! Hahaha...anyone knows?
LOL Venus and your forced shout outs :p And yes you are correct.. I'm thinking 1990'something and the 19 came out. Brain fried :p
awee I'm doing what I can to understand the culture. It's when I understand that that many things make sense with what they do over there. Seeing things from the USA perspective only leaves questions but when I see it from their perspective it makes perfect sense :) (also explains why there are so many pics around that age range at temples :p )
Awwww thanks for the Lee translation :)
LOL about the open flame.. having seeing a big ball of fire come out and engulf someone when they tried to spray their hair with hairspray near a kerosene heater.. yeah.. that stuff kinda sticks to your brain :p
Ah let me be an emotional basketcase with Takeda .. considering he was the one having a coronary I was more than happy to offer my uhm.. assistance :) Yeah that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Nah.. idiot announcer has it coming.. no other announcer was this cruel. Poking fun in the first stage is one thing as a joke.. he's mean spirited and there's no reason for it. He doesn't have "tact" and even the veteran announcers who do "jokes" and poking know when to stop and when things are appropriate. He's just an ass :p
LOL I'll get to Yuuji in a sec. I'll point him out for ya.
Ok i apologise for my impolite language & any insensitive comments. I have spent 16 years ( 2 in the army, 14 in construction ) of my time mixing with "rough" men. I am used to talking like that & more used to nastier taunts from assholes that make Iketani Yukio seem like a sweet guy. LOL! I will try my best to be more sensitive & polite. :)
Theheehhe no need to apologize :) .. er.. you haven't heard me in chat when watching Sasuke live ;)
