Taping for Kunoichi 8 is now complete :) and now we get to wait until until Wednesday, October 7th to see Kunoichi 8 on TBS. Thanks Ube for finding this! Most likely it won't be until next year when G4 will even air this.. which is as usual, very disappointing.

Over on Lost in Ube he's been very hard at work in getting information about who was in the show this year. We know already that some of the previous contestants from the past (including the current champion) would not be there. It's nice to see that so many new faces along with veterans of the show will be there! Especially 田中真帆 Maho Tanaka take center stage with the loss of Ayako Miyake.

Please note my page on how and what programs show TBS. From personal experience watching Sportsman #1 in January and Sasuke 22 in March.. PLEASE DOWNLOAD TVANTS.. I cannot possibly stress it any stronger. MANY people used KeyHole and were horribly disappointing when the picture was completely non viewable when under load of a lot of users. We expect a LOT more people watching again. KeyHole will definitely either crash or go about 2 frames per .. hour.. if lucky when several thousand people visit the server at once. The last time under heavy load many were able to watch uninterrupted through TVAnts. It does run 1 minute behind KeyHole but the picture is a but more stable. You will most likely get a couple buffer problems (server side) but it continues right where it left off. Best yet, during the Sasuke 22 showing it did not crash even once AND you can record it through VLC. If another solution presents itself in the next month I will update this page accordingly.

Please note that this connotates LIVE Streaming.. You must wake up at that time to see it if you plan on watching it live. TBS DOES NOT REPEAT BROADCASTS. Sorry for being so blunt but for the past year and a half I've been blogging about Sasuke this is the first question I get as when someone refused to head any warning. It will not repeat (this is not G4) so if you miss it you have to be lucky to find a way to get a copy at another time. I cannot stress it enough.. if you want to watch it live you have to get up and watch it live - it will not repeat at another time. We are lucky to be able to watch a foreign show live as it airs in another country. Please don't complain at the time you have to wake up to watch it.

SASUKE NAVI

I mentioned this before - Sasuke Navi (for Sasuke Navi 21 and for Sasuke Navi 22) is a great show! It's a 1 hour preview of the upcoming tournament. For this year I expect to see Sasuke Trials Fall 2009, Makoto Nagano baby birth announcement and even possible ANW Trials. The show will air BEFORE SASUKE and the SAME DAY. Please note.. they do a LOT of commercials for Sasuke and have been known to show a little bit of spoilers. So please bare this in mind when deciding to watch Sasuke Navi.

SASUKE 23 - Sunday, September 27th, 14:00 - 14:54 JST.

Kunoichi 8 - Taping date confirmed

As we found out in July - Kunoichi is making a triumphant return after an almost 2 year break. (Kunoichi 7 aired on September 5, 2007). After I read on the Monster 9 site that there was a new Kunoichi tournament there has been little or no information on the tournament. I've since learned that unlike Sasuke, the process for picking competitors and whatnot is much different for the women's tournament. That said with almost no fanfare and no updates from Monster 9 we have begun to doubt the mention that Kunoichi 8 was in fact taping before Sasuke 23. I emailed Monster 9 again and they have been very courteous to the overseas fans and returning emails whenever they had official information. Hoping to put the unease at rest they did send a simple email back confirming the rumored September 2nd taping of Kunoichi 8.

If history continues to be our guide, we should be finding out sometime this week the official airing of Kunoichi 8 on TBS. For us in the USA awaiting the return this is great news! I'll post as soon as we have an official announcement on the actual TBS airing which at this point seems to point to middle to late September, 2009.

After I read on the Monster 9 site that there was a new Kunoichi tournament there has been rumors flying around that it was not in fact Kunoichi. People expressed concerns that it might not be since they didn't come out and name it Kunoichi but instead called it "Female Sasuke". I then emailed back Monster 9 and withing 24 hours they wrote back with this message.

It is a new version of KUNOICHI. It is not a part of SASUKE.

Any more details have not been decided yet.

Rest assured.. this is Kunoichi 8. It might actually look kinda different but it is the next installment of the 7 year old series that M9 has been producing. And as previous history can attest.. it may be sometime around October or later. Depends when they can organize it. This has to be one of the earliest times they have ever announced it - I think partly to our email campaign from the past 10 months.

Some fans are confused with the update. It doesn't say "Kunoichi" but it says "Female Sasuke". Is it really Kunoichi 8? or a renamed competition? Or is this a part of Sasuke 23? Any clarification would be most appreciated.

So as you can see.. this.. IS.. Kunoichi.. not a new competition. Think of it this way.. Sasuke 23.. is NEW..

Kunoichi 8 - Official Announcement

After we found out that Kunoichi 8 was canceled for 2008 there was a genuine fear that the Women's Sasuke event that is known as Kunoichi (And Women of Ninja Warrior in the USA) was officially canceled. The fears arose from the mass exit of former Muscle Musical stars defecting to their own show last year which included 3-time and defending champion Ayako Miyake. I figured M9 wasn't sure what to do with this problem of their defending champion not returning and the fact that they were cutting down on shows (since they also canceled the Celebrity version of Sportsman #1 for the first time last year). Since we got an English version of Monster 9's address and we had an email that worked (and they did return some emails back in English to fans in the USA) we at Sasuke Maniacs Forums did a massive email campaign to Monster 9 (the Creators of Sasuke and Kunoichi, etc.) about making some sort of announcement since we were not sure there would even BE another Kunoichi.

M9 finally emailed me back this week with a couple replies to previous questions and I replied back with my usual last questions that arose from the last correspondence. Kunoichi's fate was one of them. Today (since I check their site every single day for new updates) we FINALLY got an announcement about the fate of Kunoichi 8! Similar to Sasuke 23's announcement (and they even share the same page now on the M9 site) they are asking for applications to be sent directly to Monster 9 and not TBS again.

Looking for the players!

A couple things to note. Monster 9 is handling the applications.. (please note new address) AND as of this date.. there is no deadline. This is definitely expected since Sasuke 23 is first and it's a large competition to have to handle. Where the part of "Looking for the players" is set at the end.. the previous time it said the actual deadline. Given that it is early.. they probably don't have a set date from TBS yet but are at least acknowledging that they ARE having another tournament. THIS is awesome news :D

I fully expect this to be sometime in October or even later.
