Sasuke spoilerific review ;) Warning.. incoming blog of Sasuke 29.. if you don’t want to know.. you have been warned
:D (Just remember.. the USA Broadcast of this.. will be.. well
probably never honestly. Yes.. you read that right.. Now with the death of G4 official
and NBC not giving a damn about Sasuke Japan (especially after
boycotting Sasuke 28 AND Sasuke 29..).. we may never see Sasuke Rising
on US television (or any overseas country for that matter unless
everyone buys the original 3 hour broadcast from TBS). For a preview of
this event.. Please see SASUKE Rising (29) NAVI
a half hour review of Sasuke Rising with fluff pieces of all the
major players in the upcoming Sasuke and even a couple of runs
that were cut from the official broadcast!
(Massive thanks to TBS for posting the names of all 100 competitors! Thanks to Ube for his help on the names in English!!)
The massacre continues.. we tried to kill 16 people but 2 escaped our grasps /TBSShakesfist
Oh so help me I'm going to be throwing things if he fails not of his own doing..
FIRST you Fast Forwarded him.. okay he's going to have a full run. I waited SIX YEARS to see him.. I would have sent flaming dog poop to the studio if they Fast Forwarded him again..
TBS trying to stem the damage by giving me a Fluff piece. For those people who still don't recognize him he was/is a trampolinist. And no he never got to the Olympics.
For those who only watch Ninja Warrior NOW he should be recognizable. He was the Finalist in Sasuke 17 that Nagano won.
After his management had a tiff with M9 we haven't seen him in SIX years. Now he's all grown up and working at a local Gymnasium.
AS A COACH (Shaking fist at Yamada for being derisive towards all coaches) to cute little kids.
Trying to take a page from Kongo's midget army.. Shun is building his own army.
You're welcome girls. Still not my type but I can appreciate he's now legal.
Sasuke 17 Finalist Shunsuke Nagasaki 長崎峻侑
Clear on the Cross Slider
moving quickly between the rungs and turning around
safe on the other side
I mean he was part of the group that were introduced to the Salmon Ladder during Sasuke 18 so it's not like I expected him to drop here.
There we go! nice time too
Still don't like this joke of an obstacle.. but I save my hatred for later..
spider walk
... holding breath now that I see the time..
in the water at 20 seconds left..
diving deep
hitting the fire hose..
managed to one hand the support raiting..
......... starting to get my computer to the point of being thrown..
hoisting computer in the air...
as I'm staring at the clock and he's lifting the first wall..
and under.. I'm officially royally pissed off..
I'm so sorry they did this to you Shun.. between the damn tank and the 45 second cut for no friggin' reason.. you were ROBBED! He kicked ass in this tournament and has nothing to show for it.
He can't believe it either.. that was a near flawless run. Any other tournament he would have been in the 3rd stage again.. He should have passed but TBS screwed this up badly..
Asa's turn.. wait.. no interview from Shun either.. /facepalm
I can't take out my anger on Asa.. he's done nothing wrong.. he better not get unjustly eliminated either..
TBS successfully killing someone else..
By the way.. I'm now completely convinced we had so many Fast Forwards in the first stage so we wouldn't have any attachments when they were unfairly eliminated now. Shame it backfired because the favorites we wanted to watch managed to get here so it because so OBVIOUS how totally wrong this stage 2 was this time around.
Next is (Shin Sedai) New Generation star Kazuma Asa 朝一眞
so help me they better screw this up for him.. or anyone else past this point..
easy clear on the Cross Slider and doing good time on the Salmon Ladder so far..
Other side good
flying through this..
easy clear on the Swap Salmon Ladder
doing well on the Joke obstacle
doing good time on the spider walk
HERDS of time before he even touched the &%#$@ tank..
in he goes with just under 40 seconds left..
.. it looks like rapids when you get closer to the fire hose..
powered through and got the support beam on the first shot
... break to commercials..
20 seconds left before he even gets into the chute..
sliding all over the place trying to get a grip on that weird wall..
it drops on him as he throws his body forward..
butt pushes the walls apart..
having issues with the last wall as he's soaked and the klaxon blaring in his ear..
he just says screw it and throws his body forward as the wall lands on him as well..
scrambles forward and totally jacks the timer in frustration.
Kazuma Asa 朝一眞 - SECOND STAGE CLEAR!
man he worked hard for that one.. this is ridiculous... this should be an easy clear with a high time. What is wrong with that? NOTHING..
Yuuji officially crapping a brick. He's not a good swimmer and he saw how hard it was for BOTH Kongo and Asa to get a clear both in red..
Asa Family&Friends plan™
Sister Sayuri さゆり
Asa is still kicking his feet in celebration and agony..
A scream of elation that it's over and he survived the attempted murder..
Asa barely cleared because he was successful in getting around the fire hose and snagging the support beam in one shot. THIS is how precise you have to be under these conditions.
trying to lift the last wall since he was not happy about Morimoto just sliding under.
He at least managed to get it high enough for him to throw his body under it with the wall slamming on his hip.
I love how defiant he was.. he probably came really close to BREAKING the red button in frustration.
Sister Sayuri さゆり approves of this message
Asa can't even breathe.. so to recap.. the clears are 0.8 seconds.. 5.1 seconds and 4 seconds.. W.. T.. F.. it shouldn't be THIS close..
Meanwhile vagabond Kanno is hoping he has a chance.. if he's perfect..
I can't believe she's stupid enough to wait for him.. sorry.. but she's STUPID. Waiting to get married because of a game show is just asinine. I'm now officially calling Kanno "Yamada 2.0".
"Yamada 2.0" Hitoshi Kanno 菅野仁志
Clear on the Cross Slider and first transition
clear on the next transition
and the next
Clear on the Swap Salmon Ladder
joke of an obstacle
good time on the spider walk
going to be close with him entering at 33 seconds..
he's electing to go from the top..
manages to grab the support beam on the first try..
he's going to have to hustle.. he's taking his goggles off his eyes
THAT is how you do the wall..
Using his arms and not his butt to open the wall
and to prove he can do it he lifts the last wall over his head
barely clearing again.. Another near flawless run and we are only at 3.8 seconds left? This is crazy.
.. this is sad.. don't cry stupid.. just ditch him for making you wait.
"Yamada 2.0" Hitoshi Kanno 菅野仁志 - SECOND STAGE CLEAR!
All of you are accomplices.. you know that.. don't you?
I'm going to hound him on twitter if he doesn't marry her before Sasuke 30..
Meanwhile by far the weakest swimmer in Sasuke's 2nd stage who just happens to be a cliffer as well..
as we remember from last time.. could he have been warned not to wear his shirt?
because he it would drag in the water
and cost him precious time?
I think so because he's top nekkid now..
(Shin Sedai) New Generation star Ryo Matachi (Cliffer #2)
Clear on Cross slider and first transition on the salmon ladder
clear on other side as he turns around
and again
Clear on the Swap Salmon Ladder
.. I really don't like this obstacle.. bring back the 2nd plank.. otherwise it's a joke.
Doing good on time on Spider walk
normally I'd be happy seeing a full 30 seconds before the water..
But Ryo can barely swim..
as evident by the near drowning as he gets closer to the fire hose..
he's now literally trying to avoid drowning and is going back to the start..
Hioki trying to will him into going forward..
he's trying again by kicking back out even though he has no hope..
he can't do it.. stream is too strong for him (mental note.. he PASSED the one from last year.. and he can't handle this year's even backed down from earlier competitors)
replay of him almost drowning.. I'm not kidding folks.. how is this fair to non-swimmers? This is NOT the triathlon
Ryo Matachi (Cliffer #2) - Death by bias
16 murders down.. 4 escaped the grasp /TBSShakesFist
okay.. I will pitch a living fit if they take him down.. so help me I'll implode..
HE TOOK SWIMMING LESSONS YOU EFFIN TARDS..
2-Time Grand Champion Yuuji Urushihara 漆原裕治 (Cliffer #3)
Clear on the Cross Slider and first transition of the Salmon Ladder
doing excellent
and excellence continuing
Clear on Swap Salmon Ladder
reminding TBS how much of a joke this thing is..
Flying through the Spider walk
OVER 40 SECONDS..
okay.. doing good.. he's going down.. he trained for this..
he's been pushed up already..
almost there.. just grab the support..
He missed the grab of the support beam and.. HE'S GOING BACKWARDS..
WTF.. HE'S GOING BACKWARDS! PUSHED backwards. not swimming backwards!
They can't BELIEVE what they are watching..
ALL that time training.. ALL that time blowing through the first 2/3 of the course faster than abyone else.. only to be cheated this way.
Kouji's voice going super sonic
You don't treat anyone this way.. much less your 2-time grand champion.
Seriously.. for the MORONS online that think that THIS was acceptable because they didn't want him to win again..
Anyone with even a remote sliver of sportsmanship would see this as a travesty. The way these long-time veterans are feeling right now.
HE NEEDED A LIFE GUARD!
2-Time Grand Champion Yuuji Urushihara 漆原裕治 (Cliffer #3) - Death by complete and utter bullshit. TBS SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES..
And for those in the internet that tried to defend TBS on this.. Seriously internet.. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!!? THIS was acceptable? You ought to be ashamed of yourselves. Go back to ANW where NBC doesn't care about you either. At least the Japanese who are causing a living firestorm in Japan see it for what it was.. complete and utter bullshit.. They want a certain person's head on a stick. For once I'm not defending him.
The 4 who dared defy the TBS assassination plot..
Yusuke Morimoto 森本 裕介
Kenji Takahashi 高橋賢次
Kazuma Asa 朝一眞
Hitoshi Kanno 菅野仁志
NOBODY cleared with more than 5 seconds left..
Back to the room.. I literally got up and had to walk around so this was the first time I saw this I was so furious.. NEVER have I been so incensed.. I mean there's a difference with disappointment over my favorites loss.. and another to see such a clear injustice.
Obviously they are talking about the Backstream calling this stage "Survivor"..
okay.. I like him.. He literally said (referring to the Backstream)
"Hon to ni Baka" = "this is Seriously/Really Stupid/Idiotic"
Then after describing why he hates the Backstream he gushes on the kid going to the 3rd stage for the first time.
From this point forth I'm employing the drinking game for everytime I hear "Sasuke-Kun". Trust me you'll be dead in about a minute.
Oh yeah.. we have a 3rd stage now..
19 comments:
I don't get why you are so upset about the Backstream, in Sasuke you have to be prepared for anything. I do think they should have made the current a little weaker but still. I don't really think Inui expected so many fails.
You either decided to ignore reading 3 pages explaining why or you are trying to justify and defend TBS. Not sure which. Manipulating a water stream to make it an uneven playing field is never EVER justifiable. It shouldn't matter WHO was at the starting block before the stage started. Apparently TBS thought they should increase it from last year and cut the time.. when the crap hit the fan and they miscalculated they then started to adjust the streams without allowing reruns to those who got caught in it. In addition it is discrimination against non-swimmers who are perfectly capable of doing an obstacles course and you know.. actually defeat it a couple times. As Yuuji said last time.. there's a reason before you had a rule to never get wet. It doesn't belong in Sasuke. Period. If you want to swim watch the Olympics or enter a triathlon. It's not Sasuke. Certainly at the hands of TBS for botching this up royally. It's inexcusable.
the reason that the long jump log grip and back stream was different for different people was because first women are shorter so they got a shorter jump and have less upper body strength so they got an easier grip on the log now as for the tank the taller you are the smaller the current for one reason being taller means more mass so it is harder to swim threw currents the taller you are.
I agreed with your initial thing with the Long Jump. Both the Long jump and the Warped Walls are adjusted by age and gender. However they not not adjusted by height.
However, you are incorrect with the backstream. First, they were all the same gender. They are all about the same height.. and TBS is swearing they didn't fiddle with the power of the stream as Inui is implying in his defense online. So no the argument that you can defend the changing the stream is debunct now that TBS is trying to explain to people that the stream was not manipulated when it clearly was. It shouldn't matter what size, weight or gender you are for the backstream.
I didn't say I like the water stream manipulation, I actually think it's BS. I have to give TBS credit for trying something new though. I'm starting to not want the Backstream in Stage 2. They should replace it with an upper body obstacle that takes about 10 seconds or so.
I gave them a benefit of the doubt last time because no one failed ON it (Ryo's fail was because of him making love to the sticky spray before the walls + the bad swimming but not because of the tank itself). I didn't like it then but then this comes up and I now feel strongly about an obstacle enough to scream as loud as I can to get rid of it. Usually I'm meh about obstacles and don't get so passionate about them. Even the chain see saw that I hated I didn't go on a campaign to remove it. THIS was so epic that I had to do something about it. Luckily I don't have to since the Japanese public is doing it for me. I agree that just replacing it with something else will solve some of the problems.
The Japanese public? Where are they saying this.
2ch, twitter, Facebook, Mixi, Youtube and anywhere they can yell. The Youtube video alone has over 7k views because it's being linked in bbs and discussed. I know Inui is feeling the heat because he's already trying to defend the TBS team and himself by posting. I'm getting bits and pieces sent to me but most of those are in FB and Mixi that are behind firewalls.
1. Totally fine with calling Kanno Yamada 2.0, even with being a fangirl. He does deserve it. (g)
2. OK, I didn't mind the Backstream in 28 - it was a shocker, but it was doable in the time allotted (and, I will admit my hormones liked other side effects of it). In 29... I think abbreviating it to BS is fitting. I live on the coast, where we have rip current warnings in bad weather, and you DON'T go swimming in that. On top of that, even if you couldn't see the difference in current strength, you could hear it in the later runs, as whatever they were using was quieter.
I think they'll have to get rid of it, solely due to the backlash. If they had either kept it as it was in 28 (which people did train in response to, and could have handled) but had a shorter stage time limit (although not as abbreviated as it was), or had it SAFELY harder (as it might have been later on) but with the original time limit, they wouldn't have as many complaints.
Who the heck tested it this time, anyway??? That's the biggest question, because someone had to test it and say that the stage was feasible (which it wasn't at the beginning, since all of the clears came after it was tinkered with, and it was barely feasible at that point). Inui's obviously the final say on it all, and thus the brunt of the backlash rightfully should be directed towards him, but I wonder what was involved in the testing.
Oh, since I'm combining replies here: re: the digesting of so many clears: I think the problem was that they needed to go a little longer. Getting rid of the room altogether would have helped, but I don't think we would have gotten too many more runs out of it. They do have to show some fails throughout (and, much as I can't stand him either, seeing Sato faceplant on the first obstacle as worth seeing BECAUSE I can't stand him), especially in the first stage. I'm not sure how many more of those being digested or just cut would have given us enough time for more full runs of clears.
That said - yeah, digesting the Shin Sedai that you're supposed to be pimping isn't a good idea. (sighs) I'm honestly not sure how they could have edited it better, especially since I wouldn't be surprised if some of what was kept (the modified room, and the full runs of fails) was mandated by higher-ups. An extra half-hour would have probably helped the most, but whether or not that could be justified is another matter.
Great emoticons. :P
I don't mind them having swimming but they shouldn't be adjusting the flow of the water, it looks manipulated. 3 out of the 4 that got through seem to be the ones TBS are pushing to be the new face of Sasuke.
A shame to see Yuji go like that he was flying through the second stage. I don't buy that he is a weak swimmer now, they were saying he trained to swim 25m under water.
Yuji also looked like he has lost more weight, a shame TBS are hurting his chances, he only has a few competitions left in him before he declines like Nagano. TBS fears Yuji if he wins 3, he makes any new challenger still look ordinary.
If TBS for some stupid reason still wants to keep the backstream thing then they better increase the time to clear the stage. No one cleared the stage in 5 seconds or more the timing is BS.
Hey Jenn :)
1. LOL I'm at least happy that Kanno no longer does the other drama that was doing back in what.. Sasuke 22? That drove me batty.
2. Agreed with every point in this. LOL on the fangirl hormones benefit from 28.. ahahahahha
Their backs are up against the wall though now. Ratings didn't deliver and they have a huge war on their hands if they keep it. Right now I'm just hoping they do at least one more before pulling the plug. We'll see if they can save the sinking ship.
Btw for testers that doesn't always mean they could finish it in a specified time. I'm sure they had someone swim through it.. take forever and then deem is possible and walk away. I remember hearing a story of Sasuke 20 of the stick slider that Okuyama failed. They tested it.. kept sticking then they just said "okay roll with it" and it took out Okuyama.. another time with the "grinding ring" where they couldn't get it to work and left it alone thinking no one was going to get to it and it took out Nagano..
LOL You are welcome Boiling Pot :) I wanted to do something different this time. I'm seeing a lot of people trying to translate the page so I figured moving pictures also helps.
Actually Tyson I agree with your statement. While I'm not 100% convinced it was to kill Yuuji I am sure they are terrified of him winning again. Of course the kids in SMF don't want him to win either which makes me furious... but that's another topic.
Exactly Gustave. I think the combination of radically changing 2 elements made a recipe for disaster. I think the part that makes me more furious is that if they wanted to "fix" something like the strength of the hose they should have given a rerun to earlier competitors who were unjustly taken out. I mean the whole thing was a mess. It might not have been salvageable given the time limit they gave them.
What makes this worse is the fact that they actually did stage 2 the following night.. so they had a full day to sit on stage 2 and they still came up with this BS..
(Rod) So the ratings were bad or worse this year? Is the controversy over the "organized drowning" a good or bad thing for the future of Sasuke?
Ratings are virtually Identical to last year (only a couple points up) but rankingswise down from last year. First half was 2nd last year .. this year was 4th or 5th and dropped from that. Let's just say TBS didn't even tweet the number. Ube had to go find it..
The organized drowning is a huge firestorm in Japan right now and is a serious enough issue that TBS has not even decided if there will be a Sasuke 30. This is serious.
What? WHAT? WHAAAAT??? No Sasuke 30? No... more... Sasuke??? You... can't be serious. It can't be. IT CAN'T BE!
So,is it over? I mean, seriously over? Is there something, anything we can do? They can't be serious. I know TBS has made some BIG mistakes, but that doesn't mean they have to cancel Sasuke... they can change some obstacles,Backstream for example and add more seconds... this can't be happening. I really don't know what to say anymore. :(
I laugh sometimes when people think I'm kidding about Sasuke being on it's last legs. Right now we are in a holding pattern until TBS figures out what its' going to do. They are obligated by contract to do ASEAN and that's taping in November. I'm thinking they will decide after that. Right now I asked the director to see what's going on and he doesn't know (he's hired for each individual tournament. He hasn't been hired for 30 yet) and he said he doesn't know if there will be one. So just like the other years.. we have to wait for an announcement. Trust me I'll be on top of this so I'll post anything I can get my hands on.
For now we have to wait until either a) 30 is actually even rumored and/or b) ASEAN Tapes and airs on TBS later in the year.
If you say so,Arsenette. I really don't want 16 years and 29 tournaments go to waste,or simply: I WANT SASUKE TO LAST 4EVER! Or at least until I die.
Trust me I'm not happy about the situation either. So long as if it comes back and it's the same format I'll be happy. Most know by now if they do come back AND they change the format I won't be watching anymore. I hope Sasuke as we know it continues for years to come.
